Fresh crunchy waffles without milk are always part of my diet as a cake substitute or lunch alternative. I have a few waffle recipes that I always love to bake and today I’m sharing with you my waffle recipe without milk for extra crunchy waffles with water.
Instructions for crunchy waffles without milk
First, mix flour, baking powder, sugar and vanilla sugar. Then add fluffy butter, alternatively you can use margarine.
Then add three medium eggs and 100ml of sparkling water. Now mix the dough in a food processor or blender.
In the meantime or even before you make the batter you can preheat the waffle iron. When the dough is a nice mass, the waffles can be put into the hot waffle iron.
However, you should grease the waffle iron in advance with a little butter, so that the finished waffle can loosen better.
I had for my waffles during my trip for my lifestyle blog a waffle iron with heart waffles and even small wooden sticks as a handle can use. When it comes to the right amount of batter, you just have to try a bit until you find the perfect amount for your particular shape. It’s best to start with a small amount of dough and then increase a bit. Usually a simple spoon is best for this.
After a few minutes, you can remove the waffles from the waffle iron and let them cool on a cooling rack. Do not use a fork to remove the waffles from the mold, as these can quickly scratch the waffle iron and damage the coating – a wooden lifter is very suitable.

Waffle batter is quickly prepared and can then be stored in the refrigerator until guests arrive or you want to bake waffles. Crunchy waffles without milk are therefore always thought quickly, because often fresh milk is missing and all other ingredients are usually anyway in the household.
I have tried many different waffle batter variations and show you today a tutorial for waffles without milk. In addition to the various recipes for Belgian waffles or extra thick waffles, it is increasingly important to offer waffles without milk and I have also already changed.
Many people always prefer to do without milk and there my waffles are of course absolutely in vogue. Waffles are a great alternative if you have spontaneous guests or want to prepare the dough in advance. The batter usually keeps for about 3 days if the eggs are fresh.

- 250 g all-purpose flour
- 150 g sugar
- 140 g spreadable butter or margarine – soft
- 2 tsp vanilla sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 3 eggs
- 100 ml water sparkling water for extra crunchy waffles

- Mix flour, sugar, soft butter (not directly from the refrigerator), vanilla sugar, baking powder, eggs and water until the dough has become a nice mass.250 g (2 cups) all-purpose flour150 g (¾ cups) sugar140 g (5.00 oz) spreadable butter2 tsp vanilla sugar1 tsp baking powder3 eggs100 ml (⅖ cups) water
- Pour batter into preheated waffle iron and leave in waffle iron for a few minutes, depending on browning preference.
- Remove finished waffles from waffle iron with a soft lifter and let cool slightly on a cooling rack.
- Serve waffles with powdered sugar, whipped cream, vanilla ice cream, hot cherries or other fruit.

My tip: For additional more flavor, I personally like to take a little more sugar and often add some coconut flakes to the dough. Alternatively, you can replace the mineral water with an orange soda or lemonade.
