Best easy salmon salad recipe
This easy salmon salad recipe has almost become a tradition in our family. It is one of those recipes that has been adopted from older acquaintances who developed it themselves and which is still popular and passed on today.
Recipes that are quick and easy to make homemade are always very popular, and not just with us. If you can have the dish ready within a few minutes, sometimes it’s just the right thing. This salmon salad recipe is therefore also a good basic recipe for quick, cold dishes.
The salmon salad recipe uses very few and easy ingredients and ends up tasting perfectly spicy and balanced. The salmon salad can actually also be called pollock salad, depending on how it is prepared.
Salmon salad as a spread or side dish
The salad is a cold salad due to the cold ingredients. As the fish salad is made with mayonnaise, you should always keep it cold anyway and not leave it outside for too long. As a cold salad, however, it also tastes very refreshing in summer.
You can enjoy this creamy salad as a spread, as it is perfect for spreading or dipping on a piece of bread or sandwich. You can immediately use light bread such as baguettes and ciabatta, but also dark wholemeal bread.
However, the salmon salad also tastes great as a side dish with potatoes. We like it best with freshly peeled jacket potatoes, which are still steaming and then perfectly tempered by the cold salmon salad. Of course, the salad also goes well with other potato variations.
Salmon salad flavor
But what does the salmon salad taste like? It is called salmon salad, but traditionally salmon cutlets are used, i.e. pollock puree, which is usually found in supermarkets as Alaska pollock puree. Saithe is considered a substitute for salmon, which means that you can of course also prepare the salad with salmon.
It is often very easy to take a jar of pollock puree, squeeze out the oil with a small spoon in the jar and then squeeze it out further between kitchen paper or kitchen paper until hardly any oil remains. The mixture then appears much drier and no longer so oily that it can be unpleasant in the salad later.
If you use smoked salmon for the salad, you should also chop it very finely. Puree is also best here, but this is difficult to obtain.Puree is also best here, but this is difficult to obtain. However, we always like to garnish the salmon salad with a little smoked salmon.
The color of the creamy salad looks like salmon – pink-peach-pastel and it already looks delicious, even if you can’t grasp the ingredients at first glance as an outsider.
The taste is pleasantly spicy and already salty enough due to the fish, which is why you should not add more salt. It tastes of tender fish and you really don’t have to be afraid of bones here. The mixture of creamy and subtle fish is almost a little addictive and you are surprised how quickly the salmon salad is eaten.
