Instructions for making the brownies

Melt butter in a larger saucepan on a stovetop. Add gingerbread spice, baking cocoa and honey and stir to combine. Add eggs and milk and mix as well.

Prepare a mixing bowl with flour, sugar, baking powder and baking soda and add the warm liquid chocolate spice mixture and mix.

It is best to put the finished dough on a baking sheet lined with baking paper and baking frame (about 20x30cm).

Bake at top and bottom heat on preheated 180 degrees for about 20-25 minutes. For the filling, the cake must cool down a bit, so that it can be cut once crosswise and folded open. Then spread the two sides with jam, depending on the desired amount, and fold together again.

Melt the chocolate and some butter in a water bath and spread over the cake. Now spread walnuts (as whole pieces or chopped small) on the still liquid chocolate. After the cake has cooled, cut it into small brownie pieces and store them in a tin.

We recently baked this traditional cake, which originated in Poland, in the beautiful country kitchen of the Lösch für Freunde Hotel for the Kloster Hornbach blog.

There is no time better to be together with good friends in the kitchen than during the pre-Christmas season. We enjoyed our time in the kitchen with the recipe for our delicious chocolate cake or Christmas brownies and had a lot of fun baking.

For us, this cake and chocolate brownies recipe is one of our favorite recipes from now on, which we would like to share with our readers. These gingerbread brownies will probably now become a tradition in our home and baked in the run-up to Christmas, along with vanilla crescents and macaroons.

Our delicious chocolate brownies recipe was only confirmed, which is simply the most beautiful thing when you have something prepared in the kitchen for guests and friends.

Delicious Christmas Brownies recipe

If you want to vary the chocolate brownies recipe a little you can of course add some cinnamon or omit the gingerbread spice after Christmas and use a little more baking cocoa. You can also omit the jam filling if you prefer cakes without jam. If you like it even sweeter you can also use a layer of chocolate spread for the filling.

In our version, we put the chocolate frosting all over the cake and cut the cake into little brownie pieces before the chocolate had cooled. This creates a nice light chocolate glaze on each piece. If you like it even more chocolatey you can also cut small pieces first and then pour chocolate over each small brownie piece.

Notes

For the winter brownies, the gingerbread spice fits perfectly. If you want to bake a summer version, it is better not to use any spice. Also recommended is a berry jam or orange marmalade. As decoration for the chocolate icing I recommend coconut flakes instead of nuts.

True, this cake tastes especially good at Christmas. However, with a few small modifications, it also tastes good in the summer. You can sprinkle coconut flakes on the chocolate instead of nuts. With the jam one chooses then strawberry as taste. The gingerbread spice is omitted completely and you have a summery chocolate cake variant.

The chocolate brownies recipe tastes great without the special spices and even without jam at all. Juicy and chocolatey delicious. Have fun trying it out!
