If you travel a lot in Hamburg, you are often asked by friends and readers about restaurants in the Hanseatic city and are happy to pass on these restaurant experiences. A recent example of this is Apples – on Mönckebergstraße in Hamburg. I expect especially for a lunch a central location, be easily accessible and yet offer a nice and especially changing menu.
Restaurant guide for Hamburg – “Apples Restaurant
A restaurant which we have chosen especially in the spring and summer months very happy, was the “Apples Restaurant” in the Levantehaus with a beautiful and especially quiet summer terrace. The restaurant belongs to the Park Hyatt Hotel Hamburg and is also a popular choice for many local people.
Especially during the shorter lunch breaks or for a meeting, restaurants that are centrally located are suitable, such as Apples Restaurant at Bugenhagenstraße 8, 20095 Hamburg (entrance also from Mönckebergstraße in Levantehaus).
As soon as you enter the restaurant, you almost forget that just a few meters away is the famous Hamburg shopping mile. It is quiet, cozy and gives the feeling of a nice garden terrace with friends.
You’ll meet couples here at lunchtime who want to choose lunch together, business people who want to combine their meetings with a great lunch and, of course, some hotel guests who let themselves be pampered by chef Max Hohlfeld and his team.
Already when looking at the menu, on the one hand the regional reference with an innovative cuisine is recognizable, but on the other hand just as much importance is attached to a wood-burning oven and a lava grill. So it doesn’t matter whether you’re in the mood for a nice steak or want to choose a fresh salad – Apples Restaurant offers a wide variety.
As a guest, you also have the option of putting together a 2- or 3-course menu at lunchtime and receive this at a very fair price already including mineral water and coffee.
What is immediately noticeable when looking at the weekly changing menus is the composition. There are good opportunities to combine the different courses and there are three completely different starters on offer, three different main courses (also for vegetarians) and three lovingly selected desserts.
Even though it is a lunch, the staff is very loving and attentive to meet the high standards expected in a Park Hyatt hotel at all times. In doing so, they manage to create a pleasant atmosphere, between being very attentive and yet still having a summer mood and atmosphere.
If you compare the lunch offer from Apples restaurant in downtown Hamburg with many other offers in Hamburg, but also in Berlin, Frankfurt or Munich, you immediately notice the attention to detail.
Regardless of whether you’re at Apples Restaurant for dinner, perhaps chose the long Chef’s Table with friends or business associates and watched the open show kitchen, or are there for lunch, the dishes all look wonderful.
On our last visit, for example, we had a “Greek Salad” and a “Carpaccio” as starters, a “Risotto” and a “Fillet of Dorade with Ribbon Pasta” as main courses, and a “Sorbet Variation” and a “Crème brûlée” as dessert offerings.
CONCLUSION – Restaurant guide for Hamburg – “Apples Restaurant”.
Even if you knew the restaurant so far only from the excellent breakfast and dinner, it is also convincing for lunch. The summer terrace at Apples Restaurant is of course another highlight and invites you to a relaxed lunch.
Due to the central location on the one hand, it is easily accessible for every visitor in Hamburg and at the same time very quiet and secluded from the turbulent shopping streets of the surrounding area due to the beautiful courtyard atmosphere.
It will certainly not be the last visit to Apples Restaurant and Park Hyatt Hotel Hamburg and we will certainly spend many more business meetings, but also dinners with friends and family there.
The good selection of dishes, the polite and very attentive service and the great ambience make Apples Restaurant a clear restaurant recommendation in Hamburg, which we will certainly introduce again for an evening meal in the future.
Update March 2023: Unfortunately, Apples Restaurant Hamburg was also closed in the course of the closure of the Park Hyatt Hotel Hamburg and will not be reopened. In 2024, the first CONRAD Hotel by Hilton is scheduled to open at this location.
